Highlights:

Walworth, Wis. – August 6, 2024 – For 15 consecutive years, Mecum Auctions has been shaking up the famed Monterey Car Week with its exceptionally diverse, exciting and welcoming auction on Del Monte Golf Course at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa in Monterey, California. Running from Aug. 15-17, the 2024 auction will once again present a vast and encompassing selection of automobiles in a sprawling car-show format spread across the manicured greens of the golf course, while all 600 vehicles and 100 vintage and antique motorcycles take turns sauntering down the signature Mecum red carpet in a thrilling battle for bids. From a one-of-10 factory competition 1969 Ford GT40 Lightweight and a one-of-19 1930 Packard 734 Speedster Boattail Runabout to the second and final 962CR, the 1992 Schuppan-Porsche, the auction lineup is flush with rarities along with Italian high-performance offerings, German-built beauties and much more. Portions of the auction will be made available for viewing on MotorTrendTV and Max.

As one of the most dynamic auction houses in the collector-car world today, Mecum’s events are held all over the country and present unparalleled variety at each one, with the annual Monterey auction serving as a consistent tour de force and magnet for the industry’s cream of the collector-car crop. Rooted in the prestige and esteem of the famed Monterey Car Week, Mecum’s Monterey auction invariably attracts some of the most elevated and exclusive vehicles available in today’s collector market while remaining a uniquely welcoming event open to all interested attendees and their families—on both a buying and spectating basis.

Current highlights among this year’s auction lineup include the aforementioned Ford GT40 Lightweight (Lot S90), Packard (Lot S104) and Schuppan-Porsche (Lot F93) as well as a host of other coveted classics, high-end exotics and more. Among the leaders is a selection of the desirable ‘50s-era Mercedes-Benz 300SL roadster and gullwing models, a 1963 Shelby 289 Cobra Roadster (Lot F99) with direct ties to late Hollywood legend Steve McQueen, an award-winning 1971 Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider (Lot F103) in a shocking shade of Pelle Nera and America’s First Formula 1 Car: a 1960 Scarab Formula 1 (Lot F85) that was raced by Lance Reventlow and Chuck Daigh and is one of just three produced.

A rare 1959 Porsche 718 RSK Center Seat (Lot F115) that is one of just six so configured is another headlining offering from the Stuttgart mainstay, while a 1936 Delahaye Type 135 Competition Court Teardrop Coupe (Lot S103) brings a touch of France’s finest, featuring coachwork by Figoni et Falaschi and existing as one of just three surviving examples. As perhaps Mecum’s most trademark auction offerings, an assortment of mouthwatering American Mopars, muscle cars and more will also be available at the Monterey auction, highlighted by such selections as a one-of-22 4-speed-equipped 1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona (Lot S99), a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible (Lot S97) that is one of just 14 built and the first production Corvette L88 produced: a 1967 convertible model (Lot S96) that was campaigned by Tony DeLorenzo.

The excitement doesn't stop with the cars set to cross the block. Mecum plans to make a few notable announcements about upcoming auctions, including a thrilling unveiling of several highly coveted and historically significant cars that will be offered at The World’s Largest Collector Car Auction® this January in Kissimmee, Florida. The unveiled vehicles will be on display in Monterey for public viewing.
