Monterey Car Week Traffic & Road Closures

Monterey Car Week Traffic & Road Closures

Monterey Car Week is one of the most anticipated automobile events in Monterey County, California every year. This year, it begins on August 11 and ends on August 20. If you're a classic car enthusiast, there is no better series of events around than Monterey Car Week. It's full of days on end of auto shows, auto memorabilia and so much more. Many of these events are totally free, too, adding to the fun.

In most cases, roads are open and the closed ones are clearly marked with ushers or police onsite to reroute you to your destination. Spectators are always encouraged to car pool, use Uber or Lyft, or arrange for parking ahead of time.

It is worth mentioning that Monterey Police Department has increased patrol staffing to address certain issues and officers will be focusing on:

  • Speed related violations
  • Exhibition of Speed
  • Reckless Driving
  • Speed Contests
  • Equipment Violations, such as modified exhaust, unlawful lighting,
  • Illegal Smog Modifications
  • Truck Route Violations

Please note that the information below is for general information only. WhatsUpMonterey highly encourage you to always leave early as road condition can change in a blink of an eye due to either car congestion, accidents, or simply due to some "slow-motion" folks watching cars drive by!
