Fourth of July in Monterey County offers a host of traditional activities through which visitors and residents alike can celebrate the nation's birthday! Along with a lot of barbecue and concert options, Independence Day in Monterey, Carmel, Pacific Grove, and Seaside offers no shortage of things to see and do.

Carmel-by-the-Sea

Join us for an old-fashioned, family-style celebration in Devendorf Park across from Carmel Plaza on Ocean Avenue that will debut its return with a live performance on July Fourth in Carmel from 10am to 3:30pm.

The 90-minute concert will begin at 2 pm. Before the main show, there will be an open rehearsal and soundcheck from 10 am to 12:30 pm.

Various patriotic and Americana favorites include "God Bless America" by Irving Berlin. National Anthem sung by Jackie Craghead. Opening with the Armed Forces Salute and Prayer for Ukraine and closing with the Finale to the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky.

Monterey

Multiple events will take place throughout the day in Downtown Monterey this holiday.

Start your day at 7:30am with a pancake breakfast with Monterey firefighters followed by a spectacular 4th of July parade that marches down Alvarado and Calle Principal at 10am sharp. The parade is expected to take approximately one hour to pass along a route through downtown Monterey along Alvarado Street and wrapping around to Calle Principal.

 

4th of July on the Wharf

Monterey's Old Fisherman’s Wharf will be festively decorated for 4th of July with an opportunity for wonderful photo ops for your family and friends.

2 pm - 5 pm Sparkly red, white and blue stilt walker will be all dressed up and entertaining the crowd!
Find this red white and blue lady for photos and high fives along the wharf, as we celebrate the 4th of July together.

3 pm - 4pm Enjoy a free performance in front of Rockfish Harbor Grill by the Loma Linda Academy String Orchestra featuring 30 talented musicians. In addition to their beautiful classical light repertoire, they will add some patriotic pieces to honor 4th of July.

12 pm - 5 pm Uncle Sam will be at Candy World for more photo ops and giving out free flag-themed salt water taffy. 

 

Monterey's Big 4th of July Celebration

The City of Monterey’s free “July 4th Celebration and Backyard Food Fest” then follow at 11am at Colton Hall Lawn at Pacific Street. The event includes music, food and fun for the whole family until 5pm.

Living History Day

Monterey State Historic Park celebrates our country’s independence with a special Living History Day from 11am to 3pm in the Memory Garden. After the City Parade, bring the whole family for some historical fun! Demonstrations include blacksmithing, rope making, leather stamping, 19th-century games, military drill and historic music and dancing. Admission is free and a donation of $5 is suggested per family.

Pacific Grove

Celebrate July 4th in "America's Last Hometown", in Pacific Grove, with an old-fashioned down-home event from 11am to 3pm. Come and enjoy food, outdoor activities for kids, live music, and a chance to enjoy a patriotic celebration.

Seaside

The City of Seaside will host its annual 4th of July Red, White and Blues Festival at the City Hall from 11am to 4pm. Festival will feature a petting zoo, pony rides, Inflatable obstacle courses, face painting, arts & crafts, bungee jumpers, a rock wall, bounce houses, local food & craft vendors, and live entertainment featuring “Momotombo SF” (with former members of Malo and Santana).

Reminder: Fireworks Prohibited

As a reminder to all visitors celebrating Independence Day all fireworks, even those advertised as safe and sane, are prohibited and subject to a fine starting $1,000 up to $2,500.
