Multiple events will take place throughout the day in Downtown Monterey this holiday. Start your day at 7am with a pancake breakfast with Monterey firefighters followed by a spectacular 4th of July parade that marches down Alvarado and Calle Principal at 10am.

The City of Monterey’s free “Big Little Backyard Bar-B-Que and Entertainment Extravaganza” then follows at 11 am at Colton Hall Lawn at Pacific Street. Event includes free carnival booths, games, jump houses, food for sale and more until 4:30 pm.

Monterey State Historic Park is celebrating our country’s independence with a special Living History Day from 11am to 3pm in the Memory Garden. After the City Parade, bring the whole family for some historic fun! Demonstrations include blacksmithing, rope making, leather stamping, 19th C. games, military drill and historic music and dancing. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children (6-18) and free for kids (5) and under.
